Can You Use Two Single Pole Breakers for 220

Is there anything wrong with using a two pole circuit breaker (with an internally tied trip mechanism) in identify of ii unmarried pole excursion breakers?

Is information technology OK to remove the external tie bar? On BR breakers for example, these just popular off.

Is information technology OK to use two unmarried breakers in identify of a two pole and merely add the external tie bar?

So, what practise you say to the illustration below for "single utilization equipment"?

I am getting lost hither, I was trying to say a dryer circuit is MWBC according to that section.

What am I missing?

Edit: I simply saw 2 SP breakers and a dryer.

240V loads such as a water heater crave a 2-P breaker west/common trip, tin't utilize ii SP breakers w/ties. That's what Roger was alluding to.

You also cannot employ handle-ties on single poles for a 3-wire circuit to a range or similar load.

What are yous basing that on?

Roger, I used to think handle ties were immune for any 2-P load but I read somewhere in the code stating that a 2-P billow had to be used with certain loads, which I assume probably requires a common trip. Simply for the life of me I tin can't detect where I read that and it's only been a few days agone and I read it earlier a while back every bit well.
So in a "courtroom of police" I am doomed considering I can't show my bear witness.

Looks like Rob may have read the same thing but he is MIA at the moment!
